So the mighty Health Care Bill finally passed the House.
Wall Street is celebrating. Times will be great now!
Doesn't the Senate have to vote on this? Oh, I know. That's a sure thing!
Wait a minute! Why is this a sure thing? Didn't the Senate stall the bill last time it passed the House? Weren't they celebrating last time the House passed the bill?
Let's assume that the bill DOES pass through the Senate with flying colors.
What does this mean? Does you know what exactly passed? I sure don't! Will health insurance companies benefit, or will their profits sink?
How about health care organizations? How will this affect them this year? Next year?
What about pharmaceutical companies? Are they going to be fully supported with their upcoming research and development? Which of their costs will be covered? How much of a profit will they be able to make compared to what they were making?
How will these changes affect employers' insurance costs, including workers' compensation benefits?
There are an awful lot of excitement. The stocks are moving upward with hardly any bounds.
I haven't seen this much movement since....the government announced that they were going to stimulate the economy and save the banks. Stocks shot up that day and for a couple of days afterward. The stimulus package worked....sort of--not nearly as well as the sudden upward movement of those stocks shortly after the initial announcement.
This might be one of the nation's best moments--EVER. Do you really know? I sure don't.
Be careful before you follow the hype. It's not always the best way to go.
I think it will be a while before we begin to understand this bill. I believe it will be years before we know whether it's a good one for us.
Good luck to us all, and hang tight, everyone!
